I try to make a backup with a lower density. My client try to restore a database on a sun server. He had problems to restore my backup, it's take about 4 days instead of 1.5 hours. He asked me to take my backup with a lower density. Does anybody knows what he is talking about ? Is this has something to do with /dev/rmt0.1 or /dev/rmt0.2 etc..

thanks

Once it reads without failures - density & blocksize is OK

The easiest way to change density code is "smitty tape"

rmt0.1 is a nonrewinding tape device

mt tool writes eof/eot marks between backups on tape
