Hello everyone.

I have a problem with my Samsung SV0432A 5GB Hard Drive. I currently have 2 hard drives installed. The Samsung for my boot drive C: and Seagate 3120023A 120 GB. I have all of my programs installed on Drive D. But for some reason, everytime I start up the computer the space on the C: drive keeps decreasing dramatically. I could have 300MB then two start ups later It's under 100MB! Of course I clear out the temp files and cache from the Internet Explorer. I do not have Windows XP professional keeping any log files.

Does anyone know that this could be? The only thing I use alot it Kazaa. But that is installed on the D: drive. I also moved the Explorer's temp directory to the D: drive.

Thanks
KJ

its because of your swap file that windows uses for virtual memory. I would just transfer the data and use the big hd. More then likely that hd is faster and if you have both connected to the same IDE cable it will slow the newer hd down to its speed.

Yes, that's what seemed to be the problem. I moved the swap file to the D drive. All the programs are on the D drive. This way if any viruses are present, they shoud be on the D: drive. The C: would remain safe. Hopefully.

Thanks.

np im glad, If you have any other problems just let me know.

Window XP forum member "linney" has often suggested using the 30-day trial version of DiskData:
This did help a great deal. The user had forgotten that they had used perfmon to create a ton of custom counters for their system, all dutifully creating log files. They also has used Bootvis.exe, but did not let it complete its analysis. The result was several gigabytes of Log files.
