I have a new Series 700 Officejet which I just installed with my new Emachines e566 desktop.

I'm unable to communicate with the printer through my pc.
Attempting to make a test print using the HP Officemanager program results in the error message "Low level IO problem - Acommunication problem has been detected with your HP Series 700."

Examining the printer settings in the windows 98 control panel and making a stand-alone print test, I can't see a problem. The printer cable appears to be ok.
I am able to communicate with my old printer through this same port.

Can anyone help ?

check to see if the cable is ieee 1284 and if it is check two see if you have the port set to ecp/epp for printing
