I have client who has the lovegate and the valla viruses. I have tried to clean them with Trend Micro, downloading the sysclean program.
The program says that they were removed, but they're still there.
Anyone have a way to get rid of them?
Also, if I reformat and reload will that take care of the problem?
Thanks,
Dave

No, it acts as a server in a small 2 station network. The laptop downloaded the virus, I think from "Kazaa or where ever

Ok...if you haven't done so already, you need to run TrendMicro on EVERY machine, off the network...otherwise, they're doing nothing but passing it back and forth.

The laptop has Nortons, says its clean. But, on the laptop, Nortons comes up and says there is a virus.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi,

Systems seems to have the shares with everyone-full control. Try removing these shares to avoid repeated occurances of Lovgate Virus. Also deploy strong and unique administrator passwords on these clients.

To find out the source machine that is generating the virus, type netstat -a from command prompt and look for the machine that is generating lot of netbios connections.

I have disconnected the network cable, so I can work with one system at a time. Going to try Nortons today.
Thanks,
Dave

I had Lovegate on astand alone PC and it is allegedly clear.

However, the Outbox on my Outlook has 11,500 messages. Is there anyway of remotely getting rid of them as Outlook hangs when I try to navigate down?

Help!

Outlook hangs just after it starts up, so I can't navigate through the options in the application. Do you know of a way to remove them remotely, e.g a tool that can clear things out of it's pst file?

you could move EVERYTHING out of the mail store folder (or rename the directory) then launch outlook and import just the emails you want to save.

<marc> i wonder what will happen if i press this...[pc][ul][li]please give feedback on what works / what doesn't[/li][li]need some help? how to get a better answer: faq581-3339[/li][/ul]
