I have a paging system setup im my office here but its really like a pa system with speakers all over the office(no rj jacks on the paging system) so my question is can i some how connect those speakers to the acs r7 so when i do a *71 not only can you hear me through the speaker on the phone but those other speakers as well.......thanks

Program a line port to be the external paging port, connect it to the input of the amplifier that drives the speakers, and dial Intercom *70 instead of 71

#617 tells the system what line you are going to use for paging.Even though you can use any line port for paging on an R7 use line 5, it is a true paging port. Program #617 first before you program #104.

When programmed correctly
int 70 will page overhead
int *70 will page overhead and everyone in group one.
int *71 will only page group 1
int 71 will ring group 1

For the Partner ACS R7, you would need to designate one of the 5 telephone line inputs as a page port (usually the jack for line #5 is used).

I don't think that the Partner ACS processor alone provides enough power to drive external speakers directly, even ones with built in amplifiers.

I would suggest using an external paging amplifier, like those sold by Bogen, do the required programming in the ACS and connect the selected jack to the amplifier using standard 2 pair CAT-3 cable. One end of the cable would be terminated to an RJ-11 plug (Partner ACS side), and the other end, depending on the amplifier used, would most likely be simply bare copper ends, or crimped/soldered small spade lugs.

The page port will drive self-amplified speakers, like Valcom's, or of course the 600-ohm input of a page amp. It will NOT drive a speaker directly.

Just remember that even though it is a self amplified speaker it still needs a power supply. We have sales people that can't seem to understand that.

Dex man on the paging side of the cable what shoyuld i do on the back on the amp there are 5 speaker looking jacks(the ones where you push on the button put the wire in and let go of the button) they are in this order
COM 4ohm 8ohm 16ohm 70ohm

and then there is a red and withe phono jack the white one is labled phono and the red in labled aux

maybe i could thak the cable from the acs and plug it into the aux jack but that leaves the question how do the ends of the cables line up cause on the phono jack there is a +wire and a gnd wire and thats it

thanks for the help once again

Hey There!

Ok. The "COM 4ohm 8ohm 16ohm and 70ohm" (I think the last one might actually be "70v"), is where you would connect your speakers to the amplifier.

The red jack seems to be a place where you could connect a phonograph (turntable) to the amplifier, and the white jack would be a place to connect a standard line-level device, such as a radio, tape or CD player.

If the amplifier were designed for telephone paging, there would be another jack, or 2 positions on a barrier strip labeled "TEL" or "TELEPHONE".

The output impedance of the Partner ACS's page port is 600 ohms. I think line-level jacks usually have an impedance of about 200 ohms. Turntables have much higher impedance.

You would use 2-pair CAT-3 to connect to the Partner ACS. The center pair carries the signal. I'm not sure if there is a specific "+ & -" on the Partner's output so it might be a simple experiment to see if you can connect the Partner to the amplifier in that manner.
