i recently installen lotus notes on a user's p.c. as i have done many times before. the installation went smoothly as it always has, and then when i try to open lotus notes, the lotus notes R5 screen come s up then dissapears, that is all that happens lotus just won't open. i tried re-installing over the existing intsallation, then i uninstalled it and deleted the folder from the c: drive i even trin different directories but nothing wants to work

lotus r5 doesn't wan't to open after installation

Check a couple of things:
1. if it is on 2000, does the user have permission to alter files in the program files parent directory? for some reason, 2000 doesn't allow users to edit files in their so when it opens it tries to write info amd fails so it closes. change the permissions on c:\program files so that the "everyone" user has change permissions. this should fix it.
2. sometime copying too many previous files from the user messes up the install. copy the users info off and only use their notes id for the notes setup. seems strange but i've copied stuff from one machine to another and 5.0 won;t open on the new one.
