lotus notes archive: getting DOCUMENT DELETED error

We are using notes R5 (5.0.6), and we want to archive the user's documents, first of all only the SELECTED document option works, and there is an ARCHIVE link in the preview pane, but when we click on it, the error DOCUMENT HAS BEEN DELETED is displayed, through we have can add the archive database to the workspace and access it from there, but no from within the preview pane of the user's mail database.

What is wrong over here?
