Do people consider Lotus Notes a suitable workflow solution for a SME <50 people? Has anyone any experience with Ultimus as an alternative solution. Finally, could anyone suggest an automated workflow solution for an SME? We have mature paper-based workflows in place already.

Thanks for the help.

Notes is a good product for automating paper based manual procedures, being hierarchical in design. Not knowing you exact requirements and not having seen a full system analysis on the current requirements, I would not be able to say for sure, but I've always found it to be suitable in the large majority of situations - it all depends on the users requirements.

The organisation will need to think about spending some money, Notes people tend to command more than Ms people, usually they are better experienced and dont tend to be of the 'Bodgitt & scarper' brigade.

As for Ultimus as an alternative solution, the only comment I can make is that I've never heard of it, so it could be very limited regarding support staff.
