Lotus Notes 4.6 on Domino 7

We upgraded our Lotus Notes servers to Domino 7 at the weekend.
Since then we have found the problem that any users using Lotus Notes Client 4.6 cannot view or detach attachments. They simply recieve the error message - Invalid or non existent document.
We cannot upgrade the clients as the PC's are to old and wouldnt be able to run it. Due to lack of cash I cannot replace the PC's. IBM and simply said 4.6 is not supported anymore.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do.

Have you checked the ODS of the server based mail files (file - database - properties - 'i' tab). It may be that the files need to be Compacted on the server to bring them up to ODS43?. The compression used with attachments changed in 6+ so I wonder if that may be an issue.

One option is that you could run iNotes maybe for a while until you upgrade your desktops?
