I have been searching IBMs site for the last couple of weeks and trying to get the answers to the following two questions:

I am trying to get information about systems that can be used to train large numbers of people properly and well. I heard that there is a product from Lotus that would fit into our intranet and thought it should be easy to find information. Er... it seems to be a big secret.

Is there anybody out there who can give me a specific link to a site that tells me what is possible with Learning Space and how much it costs? Please help me. Thanx :)

Another question: Any ideas what other products are on the market?

We need a system which
we will build into our intranet and which
can run on a Domino server and
be accessed by a browser (Netscape 4.7) and
which has interaction in the form of chats and discussions and
a test builder and and and.......

Thanx very much for any help

It depends on how much budget you have. LearningSpace 3.5 Forum at the minimum can be found for $2-3 thousand US. See here for a price search:
Forums has great discussion capabilites, runs in Notes or the web, but has some compatibility issues with IE6, but Netscape 4.7 should work well. It doesn't have a chat feature, but it has discussions and and an exam builder, and the price is right.

The Lotus site will not mention pricing since all of their packages are prety expensive, but do a price search on yahoo and you can find it through a reseller or ASP. Here is the link to the Lotus site for LearningSpace information:

- For LearningSpace 3.x information

- For LearningSpace 5.0 information, but this product can run 20-30,000 US$ and you might need an ASP to help you out with deploying it depending on you skill level. It does not use Domino except for the discussion database. It might have too much functionality for you. We use it because we are a school and have to run courses on it.

Thanx a lot, snaggle, it is so nice to get some useful information.

The attitude of hiding information is so annoying but seems to be quite widespread.

The firm that needs this information has nearly 30 thousand members of staff, so it would be good if I got the information without having to beg for it.

Once again, thank you very much, I'll follow the links and see if I get further down the road.

All the best

Carol

This thread was really helpful.
Is the LLS 5.0 price mentioned (ie 20,000 to 30,000$) only for US installation? Any idea about international installation price ? And what is the rate for additional licenses ? How much authorizations/license we get for single purchase ?
Thanks,
Darsana

I have no idea about the international pricing or anything. I suggest getting in touch with Berbee Information Systems. There are our host and have been very helpful in getting us up and running. They are IBM certified and have an extensive educational background. The site is
They can probably give you better information on licensing than I can.
