Lotus 123 v9.5 negative numbers with Win XP

I cannot get 123 to show negative numbers in brackets with Windows XP as set up in Windows control panel regional settings. I can get -123 or (-123) but not (123).

I assume the problem is in the 123 program as Wordpro works okay when entering numbers into tables. Also an old 123 v95 copy still works okay.

Can anyone help?
