Does anyone know of a way to allow a non-administrator to double-click on a smartmaster icon in Windows XP and properly launch a Lotus 123 untitled document?
We have Lotus 123 Smartmasters (.12m) designed and used in Lotus 123 v.9 in Smartsuite Millenium Edition. We have designed these smartmasters to launch Lotus 123 and a new untitled document when the xxxx.12m icon is double-clicked. This works fine in Windows 98, NT, and 2000; however, it will not work with Windows XP unless the user is an administrator. We have tried to associate the .12m file to Lotus 123 but unless the user is an administrator XP won't let us do that. The only way to get a smartmaster to open correctly is to Launch 123, Select File-Open New Workbook, find and SINGLE-CLICK on the .12m smartmaster, then click the open button. This is not a desired method to launch smartmasters, because we have had users in the past accidently select Open instead of New Workbook. Then they open the smartmaster itself and corrupt it. Double-clicking the icon seems to be the best method for a variety of reasons.
