I have Lotus 1-2-3 r5 running on an XP machine. I open up the program, no problem, then I open a file and a message says "Out of memory." The computer is using about a quarter of the memory. I click "ok" and the message goes away and I can go on working but, if I close it and reopen it, the message comes back. This happens on any size file.
This is not affecting the program in any way, it is just annoying and I would like to figure out why this is happening.
Please let me know if you have any ideas. I have been told it's something to do with fonts but, I have not been able to find anything about this idea.

I found the solution!!!
My computer had over 500 fonts and, for some reason, Lotus 1-2-3 can not process all of those. I deleted alot and got it below 400 (370 to be precise). Seems to be working fine now.

Great answer. I still use 123 rel 5 and this has been driving me crazy on only one machine (one that I installed a program on that has lots of fonts). Removed that program and 123 rel5 is working like a charm!

Of interest--I google this every couple of weeks or so with no succeess. Decided to try altavista and got to this thread.

Thanks!!!!!!
