I have a Win98SE system which has been running okay for a long time. About a couple of months ago, whenever One-Write was started, it appeared to loose video sync and the
system is locked up where only a power cycle will free it. I have refreshed Window98 and One-Write, ran full scan of Norton, ran full scan and cleaned all found from Ad-Aware, all without any change. How can I find out what is causing the video adapter to quit driving the display? The adapter is an Intel 82815 Graphics Controller. Any suggestions for how to find the problem appreciated.

When you 'refreshed Windows', did you just reinstall Windows over itself, or did you reformat the HD and do a clean Windows install?

I originally had only re-installed it on top of itself - that did not help the problem. Since then I have wiped the hard disk and re-installed almost everything. That solved the black screen problem, but now I have another problem. I will post it in another forum, as it is probably not appropriate here, but briefly, I now have trouble with the drive assignments - I need to assign up to drive F to include 2 partitions, the ZIP drive, and a CDROM drive - can only assign up to E: and loose the CDROM.. Thanks for the suggestion to wipe the disk, had wanted to avoid that due to the hassle of getting everything back.

You're welcome.
Reformatting and reinstalling is definitely used a last resort because of the time and effort involved, but sometimes it's the only way to get things working properly again.

WRT the drive letter assignment problem, make sure that the CD-ROM and ZIP drives are properly jumpered as Master/Slave(Do not use the CS jumper position).

If that's ok, then try the suggestions here:

If no luck, then remove both the ZIP and CD-ROM drives from Device Manager, shut down the computer(do not restart at the prompt), disconnect the ZIP drive, restart, let Windows recognize the CD-ROM drive and reload its drivers. Then, check if it's assigned letter E.
If so, then shut down, reconnect the ZIP drive, restart, and see if it's assigned F.

If that does not work, then try different Master/Slave configurations for both drives on IDE 2.
If no luck, then try each drive as Slave on IDE 2, and the other drive as Master or Slave on IDE 2.
