Lost /var

Ugh. I had /var mounted on a separate disk on our mail server and unfortunately I lost that disk this past week. I’ve managed to get backup and running and restored /var/spool from backup but I was not backing up /var/lib. I need some help restoring my rpm database since now when I try to install additional packages it sends me through dependency hell for packages I know are installed.
I’m running SuSE 10.1.

% rpm --initdb

or

% rpm --rebuilddb

should work

After doing the above; Now when I go into yast --> Software Management I get:

sbin/yast: line 233: 19939 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base menu ncurses $NCTHREADS

Fixed.

I ended up rebuilding the whole box over the weekend.
