Lost trust on between client and domain

Why would a workstation and domain lose the trust between them? I have a select number of XP machines that lose the trust to the domain and have to be removed, account reset and added again...only to work on the next log in, but after a reboot loses it again...what could be causing this? What could be some common issues that would affect only certain machines?

Not sure if this will help, because I haven't any experience with XP Clients in a 2000 Domain. However, when a Windows 2000 Pro machine comes up with that error message, I have logged in as an administrator on the local machine, disjoined the machine from the domain by adding it to a workgroup, reboot, then rejoin the machine to the domain.
