can anyone tell me how a 10.20 server won't pick up the default route? I rebooted a server on 9 June that hadn't been rebooted since February. It did come back up, just not fully on the network. To make a long story short, the default gateway was missing when you did a netstat -rn. Does anyone know exactly where that comes from? It doesn't look like the netconf file was modified.

Maria,

Easiest way to set the default gateway is to use sam - I know you're not a real techie unless you use the command line - but that's what I do.

Start sam

Scroll down to Routes

Add a default route

Mike, keep in mind this is 10.20 HP-UX. They didn't add routes to SAM until 11.X. You have to add it into the netconf file (I'm finding out) manually or set the route after it boots, which maybe what the previous SA was doing.

Put the word "default" and the IP address of your default gateway in netconf, like this.

default 129.79.28.254

(that's just an example IP address of course, and I know you know that maria)
