Crystal Enterprise 9.0
We're having an issue where reports are disappearing from their folders within the Cyrstal Management Console.
Seems the common thread is that they're always reports that we've recently altered at the File Store instance level. This saves us a lot of time in that we don't have to republish the entire report, just make a slight alteration to the file store instance. This has worked for us for a long time, up until now.
I know Crystal doesn't support this process, but why would it just start being an issue now? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

Mark

In Crystal 10 you can open a report in Crystal Reports directly from the repository, make changes and then save it back to the repository, ie. overcome the publishing that you are attempting at the moment.

Thanks for the reply. I've been able to open the reports from the repository using Crystal 9 and save it back as well, using Crystal Reports. Is this what you mean?

Crystal Support told me they don't support the alteration of the repository instance as a means of altering the report. They say I need to republish the entire report ... a real hassle.

Hi,
Be sure you are opening, modifying and resaving the published versions through the CMC folder structure ( that is through the repository) and NOT directly from the FRS location..(using the odd file name version of the report)..
Modifying this way ( as well as creating new reports and saving them directly to Enterprise folders)is one method of dealing with publishing and I have never seen anything about it being unsupported ( after all it was a feature added to CR by Crystal ( now BObj))

I guess I'm dense. We have a version of 10 in the lab and I don't see how to go about editing the report from the folder structure rather than going out the frs location. Can you point me to what I'm missing?

Thanks much!

Hi,
In your CR when you click on 'Open' ( or use the open icon) look at the left side of the panel for a choice called 'Enterprise'..This will prompt you for the CMS login info and then open up the Folders you have access to..Click through them to get to the one you want and open the report..When done with modifications, just click on the Save icon and it will be resaved to that repository folder.( Note, you will probably need to reset the Database information using the CMC,unless you change the 'Refresh Options' in the reports properties page to uncheck the 'default Database..' check box.)
