Anyone please,
Have built a new database for implementation here, imported our existing data and as the good book says split it into a front and back end for ongoing development. Did that, fixed the security, but now cannot see the relationships in the window. The window is populated with the tables but the relationship lines have disappeared! Deleting the view and adding back the tables, and clicking show all does not restore. Any ideas on what has happened?

Where are you looking ?

If you are in the new FrontEnd then you won't see the relationships because they should be in the BackEnd.

The relatition window will show all the linked tables in the front end but not the relationships.

If you ARE in the back end and you still can't see the relationships - then I've no idea.

I have only ever used the database splitter once - just to see how it goes.
I usually create the dbs split to start with.
On the occasions where I've needed to split existing databases I've always found it Sooooo easy to do it by hand and you know exactly what is going on, and you can control the security settings explicitly.

Tks G LS,

The back end relationships window is blank. I've added some of the linked tables and clicked show all but no relationship lines appear.

Will try splitter again and look more carefully immediately after the splitting op. May do what you suggest ie start again and manually link out to the tables.

On security what happened was that the front end retained the security scheme but the back end 'seemed' to revert to default security. ie only user being Admin.

Anyway tks again. G. [ponder]
