New dilemma....

I have my database which has sub-forms. I added the Add record Command Button but I am confused as to where it adds the record. When I look for the record, it is not there. I need the record to be linked with a field [Company] from the main form.

IE: When a user selects a company from the drop down menu on the main form, the information populates on the main form...address, phone number, etc. and the record pertaining to the company (for example) an order will be on the sub-form.

Can someone help me? I don't have a master/child link - is that what I would need? If so, where can I find it? It is not listed in my properties window.

Hello:

You would do this a the table level with a primary to foreign key link / relationship. The button is on the tool bar.

Regards
Mark

I tried to add a primary key to the table but since the table is a linked table from our exchange server, it will not let me alter it..including adding a primary key.

Is there another way?

To see the master and child field properties, you need to select the subform control, not the form contained. Either choose the control by name from the drop-down on the toolbar, or click on the very edge of the subform control.

In the subform where you added the button the focus (record selector) should go to a new record!

If you use the form wizard to make the form with subform, the linking will be done automatically for you! . . .

[blue]Give it a shot . . .[/blue]
