Lost pickup group during IPS upgrade.

Good Morning,

We currently upgraded our 2000IVS processor to IPS. NEC tech converted the programming and installed the upgrade.

Before the upgrade we had a call pickup group setup for 5 phones, all they had to do was pick up one of those phones and press (*1) to grab the ringing phone, now that doesn’t work. Any Ideas where I should look?

In MATWorX the group appears correctly i.e. LEAD MEMBER = 2035 & MEMBERS = 2028, 2029, 2031, 2035, 2059, 3028, 2029, 3031, 3035, 3059

Look at Command 160.

then on the last sta you HAVE to close the group

Thanks Gary, I checked and everything is correct in CMD160. I think it's the (*1) code that's lost. Before they could pickup their phone and just press (*1) and they'd get the ringing line. Now they have to press soft key (Pick) then dial the ringing extension. Does this help?

We change employees quite a bit so the *1 was handy if they didn't know the other extensions in their dept yet and wanted to get the unanswered call.

check command 200 for a1 (*1) and it should be set to A020

Now they tell me *1 works but, they used to use the (Pick) softkey and it did the same thing as (*1). With the IPS upgrade however, they must press (Pick) then dial the ringing extension... darn lazy employees! hehe

Gary is there any way to edit the (Pick) softkey to make it act similar to pressing (*1)?

Heck if you can't just make it a system speed dial key and make that speed dial *1

check what the key is programmed as in Cmd 9000 de (extn No),(key No) de. IT should be F0020 for group pick up. It sounds as though it is currently set to F0021 for pick up direct. If it's right you could try swapping them around just in case they have got them mixed up in the upgrade. If it still doesn't work put it back the way it was and if it doesn't work then it will be time to get NEC involved.

Yes the softkey pattern can be set but be careful. It is probabvly set for Pattern 3 which you do not want to edit / change.

look at command 1222> ext what is the data?

this should be a 0


look at 1223> ext what is the data?

If this is set to something other than 3 set it to 3 and try the call pickup groups.


Softkey programming can be a real pain but once you do it you can have some fun like making your own custom button sets and assigning certain names.

look at 9a00 to 9a03 for the different patterns. this is where you want to be real careful as this is where the actual softkey assignments are. DO NOT CHANGE PATTERN 3 or make changes in 9A03!!!!!!! This is where the default softkey pattern resides.

missed the softkey reference. Would agree with the above although I think it would make more sense to check the pattern allocated in 1223 and correct it.
