hi

Last week my hard drive died and I’ve got a borrowed one at the moment. However since putting the new one in, all my outlook contacts have disappeared. When I try to add a new contact it says that the address already exists. I unchecked the check for duplicates check box in one of the tabs under options menu and that let me add them but still they don’t appear in the contacts list either from the icon on the side, the address book menu, the address book on the toolbar or the bit where you click on to in the new message.

Do you have any ideas as to how I can get them to re-appear? All the emails in my inbox disappeared too but I can see the ones that have been delivered since.

I'm using outlook 2002 under win xp.

While i'm here - I don't suppose anyone knows how to save Explorer favourites?

1) Do a search on your HD for .wab files (type *.wab in the search box) If your system is saying that contact are there, but you can't see them , then you probably have more than one address book. As long as you have a backup of a working address book, then delete the others. I use OE, not Outlook 2002, but the same should apply (I think)

2) How do you mean "SAVE FAVORITES" ?

If you mean just back them up, then go to the windows folder on your HD, there you should see your favorites folder. Just copy it to floppy disk or CD. When you want to restore them, what I do is go to the favorites folder that you want to replace, delete everything in it, then copy the contents of the favorites folder you backed up into the one you just emptied. DONE !

I'm not sure, but I think .wab is for outlook express. The file for outlook is .pst. I copy my pst file to the network occasionally, so if my pc dies, I can download it and everything is back to normal. Glen A. Johnson

If thats the case, follow the same instructions but use *.pst rather than *.wab
