Does anyone know how to recover or change a lost OSL?
The exchange is a Realitis DX150E running 6.2 software.
Some idiot has changed OSL level 2 user 0 to something which is not deriveable from the header info.
Release 6.2 is "unhackable" as in previous releases thus is it that OSL 2 is lost forever? help please.

have you tried the old back door password (GPT days) as i seem to remember it working on 6.2

Do you know the 0 5 password, you could then change the pass with RSK.

Doesn't the "brk 0 tstpa=+12" work on 6.2 then?

When I was born I was so suprised I didn't talk for 18 months

Hi there,
Thank you both very much for your replies.
Yes, I know two possoble Level 0 passwords but I have tried them in all User values 0 to 15 but they don't work.
Even if your in Level 0 User 0 (Engineering Investigations)it doesn't appear to be possible to clear or change passwords at lower levels which is a very serious shortcoming in Siemens software. This is why I asked the question because I can hardly believe such a shortcoming. Using "brk 0 tstpa=+12" or any other value of "tstpa" doesn't work in 6.2 (my software is 6.2.001). You just get the error message "location not suitable for breakpoint". The breakpoint method only works up to Release 6.1. This is why I believe that OSL Level 2 User 0 is lost forever unless perhaps I send the software back to Siemens at great expense, but they aren't very co-operative at the best of times! Meanwhile, Level 5 User 0 is still deriveable from the header so I can use this though I would like at least Level 3 User 0 so that I can write patches etc.,
Any other info. would be very much appreciated.
Cheers & Beers.

you can set that up using the back door,

osl 0 5 060**********

If you know that code you can get in anywhere you want

Hi there Phones 1,
Thanks very much for your post.
Yes, as I stated in my previous reply, I've tried two possible backdoor keys which are both OSL 0 5 060******* at all User values 0 to 15 but they just don't work!
I can only conclude that these OSL's have not been set in Level 0.
After all, if you think about it, what is the point in Siemens making Issue 6.2 software "unhackable" and then putting in an OSL that lots of people know? - I'm not defending them, I hate them for it!!
Any info. about finding restricted OSL's at software issue 6.2 and above would be very welcome?
Very best regards,
Telecoman.

then your only option is to go to SIEMENS for it ££££££

Have you tried using a Hex Editor on the system file (e.g. X-Tree Win). I believe that this will work for Rev 6 software.

It is some time since I have done this, but I think you can load the file, view it in hex, then search for a known OSL, in your case level 5 user 0 with A5 AA. (A zero will be displayed as an "A") There is an area where the OSL's are stored & you should see your known OSL following one of the A5 AA that you find. If you then scroll up & down the page from there, you should be able to find all programmed OSL's.

Hope I have remembered this correctly as it is some time since I have tried this as we have all our sites upgraded some time ago.

Happy Hunting....
