Total Lost of Sound - All was operational for some time. Sound ceased - checked all software settings, all analysis indicates OK and all test indicate the sound is working, but no sound. I originally (quite some time ago) had the motherboard onboard sound chip fail. Fitted a PCI quality sound card and for last year no problems... So, replaced PCI sound with a new card, still no sound... changed PCI slots, no sound. Tested with handphone out of sound card, no sound.

What's next of my analysis? Either I've somehow managed to mude the system or maybe the motherboards circuits re sound have died? XP is the OS and EpoX EP-8k7A+ is the motherboard. Logitech speakers with sub.

Assistance and or advise would be much appreciate thanks. :)

When you replaced the sound card did you remove the old and install the new sound drivers?

Thanks for assistance.
Yes did that, and ensured all old software was removed, cold booted, tested and after another cold boot installed the new cards software. Between two of us (in the IT business) this problem is a strange one?
