HELP!!! @=)

I crashed my work PC about a week ago by accidently re-installing Windows 95 when I was looking for something on the disk. I got my computer back up with little loss of data, but I have a minor problem. We have a small Netware 4.11 server which my PC connects to with a Netware 3.0.1 Client. All the other PCs have the same client. When I went to re-login to the server, it told me the tree or server could not be found. I double checked all my settings on the properties, and every single one of them seems to be the same as the other PCs. My only thought is maybe I've lost some of the driver files when Windows 95 tried to overwrite the network files with MS network stuff, but I'm not positive.

So, my question(s) as follows. 1) Does anyone know how I should proceed next? 2) Does anyone know (since I cannot find the original driver/Netware disks due to a 3 company merger) where I can find a Client 3.0.1 driver or a Client driver which will update it to 3.2? When I checked the Novell website, I saw mostly patches to the 3.2 and no sign of the 3.0.1 with no update from 3.0.1 to 3.2.

Lastly, am I even heading in the correct direction with my thoughts on this or does anyone have knowledge which indicates I'm looking in the wrong direction for my problem?

Thanks in advance!!!

Go to and download Client 3.31 which is the latest. It is best in your current state to uninstall the old client completely before installing the new one.

Post back if you still get problems -----------------------------------------------------

Danke. I will try that the first thing tomorrow morning when I get into work.

Wish me luck! @=) Catadmin - New to Server Admin, but willing to learn... All help is appreciated.

Well, installing the upgraded driver did not seem to work. As much as I try (even after double checking the settings), I cannot get this computer to find the server or the tree. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

There is a UNC32.EXE utility from Novell (think it is included with the NetWare client download) that is an uninstaller for the NetWare client. Run this, then restart, then install the 3.31 client.

Also, check your network protocols are intact (IPX and IP). These might have been corrupted as well.

You might be looking at a reinstall, probably quicker if the tip by RJS does not work. -----------------------------------------------------

i had this happen...
remove the NIC and remove the drivers...
then put 'em back in. then reinstall the client,
i made a bunch of disks (7) for the original v1 series client, and have installed it on one machine..it doesn't freeze bootup waiting for nwmsg.exe nearly as often as v3 client..it is NOT perfect however
