I have a network running W2K Server, and Win XP and 98 clients. My machine is XP Pro, yesterday I could log in to the network but now to day nothing, no network shares, no workgroup computers, nothing. I have reset my IP, rebooted several times, reset router. What else can I do, I can log in from any other machine in the store.

please help

Is the machine a member of a domain? If so, remove the machine from the domain (join a workgroup), reboot, then rejoin the domain. I've run into this a few times, not quite sure why it happens, other than a membership glitch or duplication.
Hope this helps. MCSE, A+

Are you getting any error messages when you try to log in?

Not a member of a Domain and says:

"An error occured while reconnecting <drive letter> to <shared drive>.

Microsoft Windows Network: A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.

This connection cannot be restored."

Perhaps this Update caused you a similar type of problem.

813951 - You Cannot Access Your MSN E-mail Account or Authenticate with a Web Site in Various Programs.
us;813951&FR=1&PA=1&SD=HSCH

"After you install the February, 2003 Cumulative Patch for
Internet Explorer (MS03-004), you may experience any of the
following symptoms:
You cannot access your MSN e-mail account.
You cannot successfully authenticate with a Web site in
various programs. For example, you may be prompted for your
user name and your password several times, and you may
receive an error message from the Web site that indicates
that you do not have access even after you type the correct
user name and password."

Or these might give a clue.

Ok, I have tried the above and still nothing.

can you ping the server?? i know it's a simple thing? try a continues ping and check the cables.

I have problems with XP and DNS issues. it would take 15 minutes to log in and sometimes it would say the domain wasn't available. I installed WINS and configured DNS and it works like a charm...

Yes I can ping all machines on the network.

Look in your event viewer for any services that failed to start.
