While trying to put a command (Format->sheet->rename) on the tool bar, I dragged it some place else and it is lost. Now it is lost from the menu too...
How do I get it back? And then how do I assign a keyboard short cut to it (or any other menu item that doesn't have one)?

Easiest way should be to reset the toolbar.

Not too sure you can assign shortcuts to built in menus

I'm assuming that this question refers to Excel.....

Try VIEW/TOOLBARS/CUSTOMIZE. Click on the TOOLBARS tab. Select the toolbar in question and choose RESET. Reset all of the checked toolbars if you're not sure which one you lost the menu item from. Susan

yes, this refers to Excel.
Actually I lost the item from the built in menu. My question is how to get it back there!?

Okay, choose VIEW/TOOLBARS/CUSTOMIZE again. Click on COMMANDS. Now move your cursor to the FORMAT option on your menu bar in Excel and right-mouse click. Choose RESET - this will put the menu back to its orginal condition.

To rename a sheet, double-click on the tab.
The prior name is selected and you can edit as you wish ( max 16 signs I think)
