Sounds like an IRQ conflict. Press the START Button, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL. Then open the SYSTEM Icon. Then Select the Device Manager tab. Look through the list until you come to your modem, or your mouse. Then select the device and hit the properties button. You may be warned about the deivce being in conflict on the first tab of the device, or you may have to click on the resources. If the device is in conflict you will have to either change the IRQ, or I/O port. I would suggest only changing the I/O Port with the modem. It sounds like your modem and mouse are probably both installed on COM1 or COM2. Try and get one or the other installed on the other COMport.
John D. Suggest you do this with the modem card out so that you have the use of the mouse...
The alternative is to check the modem configuration when you install it - there may be an option to put it on a different COM port.
Final solution - put some cheese near your keyeboard. It should tempt your mouse to come back to you.

I could never understand why girls have such problems with the cute and furry little rodents...
John D. Saucier
jsauce@net1plus.com
<a href=
Just an FYI, there are some new PC Hardware forums that these kind of discussions fit into a little better (Accept about the furry rodent part
Jim Collin
Jim@collin.cc
<a href=
