My brother-in-law got me a computer from his company that they were no longer using...and since my existing computer is so slow I took it without complaint.

I had a modem installed...it had been a computer that was hooked onto a network.

I started deleting a bunch of stuff that was related to the Company.

Then i used the modem and there were all kinds of problems because it kept wanting to get on the network...long and short of it is that I finally decided to format the hard drive and install Windows 98.

The computer had about 15 gigs of space on it. After i formatted it, i installed Windows 98 and everything was fine until i went to install Word and there wasn't enough memory for Word to fit on it !! AAGGH ! There was only about 15Megs left on the hard drive.

What did I do? Is there something with partitioning the hard drive that i need to do?
I am ready to re-format, but want to make sure I do it right this time !

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks !

Create an emergency boot disk from the system.
Reboot with it, fdisk and delete the partitions, reboot and fdisk again using large drive choice and create a partition.

The large drive switch allows the partition to be larger than the 2.1gb that the fat16 filesystem type allows.
