Lost Links with IE!!!

recently I started up Internet Explorer and it gave me the message: THIS PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED. I checked my IP connections etc and everything seemed fine. Started it up and still no joy. It also said: POSSIBLE DNS ERROR. Anyne have any ideas what this could be? I cannot use IE at the moemnt because of this. Also, it seems that I have lost the lins and shortcuts between my MS apps. Keeps making me install them each time I want to use them, very strange things are afoot in my OS.
