Lost Installer Password

I have a Norstar CICS cabinet with 4.0 software. Someone changed the Installer's password from the default and now you cannot perform a "Startup" procedure to reset the CICS.

Can you use the Norstar Debug procedure to find this password or is there a way to open the cabinet, pull the lithium battery out to reset the memory?

The battery which is actually the capacitor is soldered in, short it out for 20 seconds....best with 100 ohm resistor to save its life expectancy.

did you unplug the cics and then do a feature **startup?

You can't perform a startup if the config pswd had been chgd. That is the whole problem here @ smokinjoe.

Thank you to all that replied to my question.

I tried all the passwords I could think of with no luck. I started the debugging process but was unsure of exactly how to process all the codes so I stopped. I resolved my problem by shorting out the battery pins and everything has reverted back to default so now I have access with the default passwords.

norstarboy, I have in fact done this in the past as the cust lost the config password, but it was an old 0x32 ksu at the time so do not know for sure on the newer releases, we also have shorted out the cmos battery as well as you stated previously and that worked great.

Never seen that before smokinjoe, must of been a long time ago. If that worked today we would never have to short caps or perform debugs.

The debug procedure will work on all Norstar KSUs (except DR1 which has no password anyway).
