I am trying to find the announcement or vmbox that has the main greeting for one of our facilities.

I can call in and hear the greeting but can't seem to find it. I thought it might be a vm box and checked the generic admin boxes for a message: 0, 9991, 9997, etc.

I also tried to find it in the system adminsitration menu looking in sub menus & announcments. I also got lost in the day/night menu as well, but no message.

HELP!!

What kind of VM is this.If you have the legend mail then the greeting in the AA menu.either day or night.Tty to check that ,log in to the VM group dial the admin box 9997#then enter the password then 9 and the second password,then choose 3 for AA and select either 1 for day or 2 for night ,then selecteither 2 to play (then you can hear the prompt )if that the one that you want to change then press 6 to modify ,you will hear enter selector from 1 to 9 press *#*# and it will prompt you to record a new menu.The second option it could be under system greeting option 7 from the main menu either 1 for vm greeting or it could be the Touch tone gate greeting option 3.Check that out and let us know and find out what VM its so we can try to help in the correct way. Good Luck!

OK it's in 3/AA and I think the day menu
I press 6 to modify but it asks me for a selector code, but there is not list of selector codes.

Actually it was the night menu, and some how I did manage to re-record the message.

How do I get back there.
3=AA
2=Night Menu
2=play menu
...then I am lost

Campyracr, give me your E-Mail address and I'll mail you a flow chart for what you need. TipHelp@charter.net

If its a night menu,then you log in as you mentioned before(9997#PSwd#9PSWD#) and choose option 3 for AA ,then AA number ,then 2 for night menu and 6 to modify and when it ask for selector dial *#*# and it will prompt you to record a new propmt for this menu I think press 1 and follow the prompt then you should be ok,maybe I miss something but its from memory.I hope that helps. Good Luck!

OK. I logged in on 9997#PSwd#9PSWD#) and choose option 3 for AA ,then AA number ,then 2 for night menu and 6 to modify Then I get lost. I selected 2 to play the menu prompt, however there was no option to rerecord it. I started poking around and must have pressed *#*# at the right time when it prompted me to record the message.

I guess then it's:
Automated attendant = 3
Day / Night menu = 1/2
Modify the menu = 6
Play the menu prompt = 2
*#*# to record the menu
Is that right?

Yes,what you doing is correct,3 for AA and 1 or 2 for day or night,then press 6 to modify (not 2),then it will prompt for selector code from 1 to 9 then press *#*# then it will prompt for dial out ext. no. and it will say please record the new the prompt for this menu and after recording press 1.I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Remember if you change the prompt in the greeting to use different selector codes you need to change those as well.

Example: old greeting

you have reached abc corp press 1 for sales 2 for service
sales goes to ext 700
service to 701

new greeting

you have reached abc corp press 1 for sales...etc..

but now sales is ext 705
then you would need to change selector code 1 to go to 705 instead of 701.

Alright. New issue, same menu:
I have been asked to add the option to the AA so callers can ring the night bell in the building (just in case someone is still there).

I can figure out how to rerecord the greeting, but not program the keypress to ring the bell.

The same way like recoding the greeting,but when you dial 3 for AA ,1 for day or 2 for night,then 6 to modify,it will ask you for selector codes from 1 to 9,then you will choose a selector code that you want the customer to press to ring the extension,then you will choose the option for transfer to an extension and then enter the extension number ,and after you finished dial *# and save your changes.I hope that helps. Good Luck!

That's what I needed to jar my memory. Now if I can find the night ring extension.

OK the language barrier is I guess my bigest problem, in that I don't speak Avaya Merlin all that well.

Here are my desired results for the night menu:
1 = txfr to extension
2 = Directions
3 = Vmail in general mbox
0 = ring night ring Then go to general mail box after 4 rings

are these steps right?
log in 3 for Automated attendant, 2 for Night menu, and 6 to modify.
I would enter each selector code 1-3 & 0.
selector code 1 option 1 (transfer)
Selector code 2 option 2 (submenu, then menu number)
selector code 3 option 5 (dir ext txfr to gen vm box)
selector code 9/0 option 5 (dir ext txfr to night bell)

- I don't think it gives me an option for a 0 selector code.
- I suppose I would have to figure out how option 2 is programmed now to get to the right submenu
- How do I get the night ring to ring 4 x then transfer to the general mbox?

When done *# back to the main menu then 3 for auto attendant, 2 for night ring, 2 to Play the menu prompt and *#*# to record the menu

It is actually called the Zero/time out option. It is given you after you have made you selectors codes 1-9, usally the zero/time out option for the day is transfer to the call answer service operator and at night go to the general mailbox. I would not use the Zero button to transfer to the night ring. Use the digit 3 to transfer to night ring, and keep the digit 0 set to go to the general mailbox. I am assuming when you say night ring, you have a loud bell attached to a single line port that rings at night? Is this correct?

I would not use 0 as Ghostin suggests. If your selector code list is accurate use 4-9. Set it to either selector code transfer or direct extension transfer. Then enter the ext # for your night bell. (again assuming you have one)

Yes I do have one. I tried both the direct ext transfer & the selector code transfer. I am guessing it tries to dial an extension (the one I programmed in for the night bell), however there isn't a mailbox with that ext number. Subsequently, it rings a dozen times then rings at the operator's console. (No night bell)

I had a moment of clarity and checked the configuration of another facility with a smilar night auto attendant. I set the 0 out time out action to dial the extension of the night bell.

Thanks to all.
