'Lost' Folders

I am having a problem in Windows XP Pro, occasionally I am getting an orphaned folder in the taskbar. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot the system. This is very annoying as it means that I cannot access the desktop.

Any hints or tips would be appreciated

The Computer is a Dell GX-150 (800Mhz)
