Hello,

I ahve a user who we just ordered a new computer for with Word Perfect Office 11. We use WP 9 on the rest of the computers in our organization.

Daily we "search" for text in documents and in WP 9 there was a "find" button on the open file screen which would search the conents of a folder. How do we do this in WP 11 ?

I am having the user use the Windows Search for Files & folders for now but this is less than ideal.

Any advice appreciated.

Mark

This is the 3rd party program QuickFinder that allows such finds in wp's enhanced File, Open dialog. Install a registered version of wp and then QuickFinder is installed.

I go to File, Open, and at the bottom of the box click on the Find Now button.

Blue Jacket,

The find now button is not there in our version of WP 11

That's interesting, I also have Version 11. My Find Now button is on the left of the row of buttons at the bottom of the Open File window which includes Advanced..., New Search, and Close

The reason why one has it and another doesn't is as I explained. OEM versions don't have it I suspect.

Click Help and then About in wp to see your version. wp11.0.0.300 should have it. This is the patched registered version.

If you have the registerd version, you may have to do a custom install to install that 3rd party program.

khobson, mine is the OEM version. 11.0.0.233

According to Corel's site, the Service Pack is only for Dell OEM version
or the retail version

This chart is from the second link:
Application      Initial Release Service Pack 1
WordPerfect 11     11.0.0.233      11.0.0.300
Quattro Pro 11      11.0.0.233      11.0.0.300
Presentations 11   11.0.0.233      11.0.0.300
Paradox 11           11.0.0.233      11.0.0.300

Service Pack 1 may have caused the issue you are seeing.

I just 'bit the bullet' and downloaded and installed the Standard Service Pack 1 for WordPerfect Office 11. It updated nicely to version 11.0.0.300. I still have the Find Now... on the Open File window.

Because the installer required to run SP1 is on the WP CD and I had to dig it out, I was reading the System Requirements and noticed WP Office 11 requires Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 with SP3, Windows NT 4 with SP6a, or Windows XP with SP1 [either HE or Pro].
