Hardware and software.
Motherboard: Intel D915G, P4, 3.0 Ghz, 1G RAM

Sound card: DigiGram LCM440V2 four channel

OS: XP Pro SP3

Error: "This device cannot start. (code 10)"

The problem: I can install the sound card and it works ok. When I restart the system I get the error and have to re-install the sound card. No conflicts.

1) I have another system, same MB, same sound card, no problems.

2) I have swapped the sound cards, no change.

3) I have changed MB, no change.

4) I have reformatted drive and re-installed the OS, no change.

5) I have disabled all other sound devices in BIOS, no change.

Yesterday I had the system working ok, turned it off last night and this morning, problem is back.

No other software has been installed, I am logging in as Administrator, and not on the domain.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
David.

Correction to the above hardware list.

Motherboard is now a D865G.

Sorry, I have parts scattered all over the place.

David.

Ok, I believe I have solved the problem.
Each instance of the program has its own software disk. And, upon closer inspection I found that the version of the drivers found on the disk for PC #1 are a different (.001) version than the drivers found on the disk for PC #2.

Remedy: Used the drivers from the disk from the PC that works. Now both work.

Thanks for your valuable time and consideration.

Regards,
David.
