Hi

Can anyone help? After doing a format and re-installingXP Professional, I seem to have lost a gig of disk space !! Looking at the folders, it doesn't seem to add up to the amount of space that seems to have been used.

Going through the Windows directory, I have a file called set3.tmp which is using up over a gig of space. Can you please tell me whether this is necessary and, if I can delete it, will it cause problems.

Help !!

Cheers

Don't know for sure - but .tmp denotes a temporary file normally, so should be ok to delete (delete to recycle bin & see if any ill effects?)

I get rid of temp files regularly. I also used the trial version of window washer to clear up my HD, and found it quite effective. The speed does improve after each wash. I could not find any temp file called set3, so I guess you could remove it. On the other hand, to be on the safe side, you could copy/move it somewhere; if there are problems because of it you can restore it to its old directory.
