HI,

I have a problem.
I cannot read a part of my ssa disk.
There is a db2 datafile. I try to copy it another place (disk)
but I can only 70 kb.

After that I get the message:
cp: PSAPES46CI.container001: There is an input or output error.

What can I do ? No backup exsits :((
Can I solve it with fsck?

HI,

Check in errpt for hdisk and scsi errors.
If you find many - possibly the disk is gone, and so your data.

You can try and "fsck -y" the filesystem, however if the above is true - the chances to succeed are low.

The last resort maybe to dd the disk to another good disk:

dd if=/dev/hdiskx of=/dev/hdisky bs=1024

Good luck. "Long live king Moshiach !"

Hi Levw,

Thanks for your quick answer. :)
Yes, there are many entries in my errpt.
I have tried the fsck -y but it couldnt solve the problem :((
Now I will try the dd.
I will write my result.

Unfortunatly , It didnt work.
Disk is not readable.
I think I will install a new db2
Thanks again

Hi

What shows the:
lsdev -Ccdisk
lsdev -Ccdisk

Have you tried Migratepv ?

Go to diag Task Selction DISK Maintenance service Aids. - Disk to Disk Copy.
This is your last help.
dd is a bad idea, because you PVID will become duplicated and the System comes confused.
