lost connection to server

hello there,

i am new to this forum!! i am using networker 5.5.1 on aix server with 8 clients to be backed up. one of the clients backup has been failing for last several days. the filesystem it's backing up is about 25GB. i am getting the following error message:

--- Unsuccessful Save Sets ---

* stimpy:/rims/site1/prod1 1 retry attempted
* stimpy:/rims/site1/prod1 save: lost connection to server, exiting
-------------------------------

has anyone come across this siminlar problem, if so, i would appreciate any help in resolving this error. the client has a priority of 1.

Is it a Netware client? Client type is very important to include as that may give some indication as to the problem.

If it is indeed Netware 5.1 and you have sp3 installed, you will need to apply the Netware patch tsa5up7 from Novell.

all clients are unix aix version 4.3.X.

Is the Networker daemon running on the client? Are any of the file systems backing up successfully on the client?

yes, the networker daemons are running on the clients. and all the other clients and their file systems are backed up successfully. the client in question(stimpy), other file systems on this client are also backed up successfully. it is only the /rims/site1/prod1 filesystem is failing. i do not know if it is because of its size(25GB), that when it tries to back up, its timing out or what??? i do not know if version 5.5.1 build 115 has any issues with backing up hugh filesystems, i would think not!!!

Do you use the default timeout of 30 or do you set it higher? Also, how many retrys? I use a minimum of 3 retrys and 120 seconds.
