Lost Calendar Data

One specifc user in my organization just recently lost all of the data in his calendar prior to 1/1/06. Recurring appointments remain, but individual meetings are completely gone. The user is on MS Outlook 2003 Pro with all the latest updates and patches. Any ideas?

perhaps a bit too simple answer, but did the information archive to an archive folder?
