Lost audio on IP phones of 2000IPS

System is 2000 IPS about 5 years old. Has IP stations and TDM stations (both Dterm and analog).

Just out of the blue yesterday, IP phones lost both way audio on phone calls to any destination other than other IP phone.

In other words, pure Peer-to-peer IP calls were still fine, but IP-to-TDM calls had no audio. Made an outgoing phone call from a TDM phone via a T1 trunk, and that had no problem.

We were in the middle of a conference, when they were trying to use the system, so there was absolutely no time to test and trouble-shoot. Only thing could be done was to poke it in the eye - reset.

That handled the problem. But what happened?

Any ideas?
 
Sounds like your PAD card hiccuped. It translates digital to IP so IP-IP calls worked because they did not have to be translated. Your CPU was still up so calls were still being routed fine.

It was either your IP pad or something in your data network related to the IP Pad connection. The fact that everything came good with a reset unfortunately doesn't tell us much either as it could have simply given the rest of your network time to recover. You need to speak to the IT people and see if they registered any event at around that time!
 
RESOLVED. Duplicate IP address. The IP PAD was set to 192.168.1.1 by the installer way back when. Now, somebody came along and plugged in a Linksys router to the network. Its default IP address is...you guessed it: 192.168.1.1

WHat a nightmare. Anyways, the entire subnet range is now changed on the phone system. Never to happen again.
