Hello all!
This is the story:
My Exchange 5.5 database crashed due to a virus found in one of the log files. The this is that after I did a hard repair of the database I lost some attachments from recent e-mails.

Is there a way or a tool that can extract mailboxes or e-mails from those log files so I can recover those e-mails attachments?

I saved the database and log files before I did the repair.

Please I really need to recover those attachments.

Any ideas?

You shouldn't be scanning the Exchange db and log files for viruses using a file-level scanner - if you run antivirus on an Exchange server at all you need an Exchange-aware antivirus scanner that reads the db via the published API to clean the mail objects.

Do you have a copy of the logs and database before your antivirus blatted all over the log file? You could restore this set of edb files and log files to a restore server, which would then enable you to access the database and recover the missing email, but it would be a lot of work.

You've learnt a hard lesson here, but now you can make changes so that it doesn't happen again.
