Can you tell me where can I find my email copies on the hard drive?
Is it true, that the formerly deleted emails are still on the hard drive, and using diskspace?
Are you using Outlook Express? If so, it stores in something like \Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{03DE392D-2F41-4970-A175-CA9F2A533804}\Microsoft\Outlook Express, and deleted items are held in Deleted Items.dbx. If you've actually removed the deleted items from the folder in OE (or in fact deleted items from any OE folders), you can run the compact folders option in OE to reclaim the disk space.
The Folders in Outlook Express are actually files of the same name with the extension .dbx. Once a message is deleted from the Inbox it goes to Deleted Items. When deleted from there it is gone. What's left is a 'hole' in the file. You can go to File, Folder, and choose Compact [for the folder selected] or Compact All Folders to remove the wasted space.
The posters above have given you all the resources possible.
But I suspect you will find sympathy for your complaint from a recent Bill Gates quote (paraphrased): "We need to do more for our email client software. It bothers me that a deleted email message cannot be restored. This is just stupid."
