Hi ALL

I have a user machine that has been installed with Win2k pro, although this installation was done previous to my arrival at this firm, Now i have additional softare to load onto the machine, I have got no idea as to what the administrators password is? is there any way to retrieve this password, this machine can be seen by the network.

Your help is greatly appreciated,

Qae!

Can you boot into windows? If so L0pht Crack 3 is what you want. Install and let it run. It will get you the password. If you can't boot into Windows, and you have NTFS as your HD, then you'll need to get an NTFS boot disk. Search google for it and you'll find some sites with the boot disk. Then you'll need to get the sam database from that PC and go to a Windows machine that can boot. Copy the sam to that PC and run LC3 on it. Jason Wichman

if it's on a domain, it might be easier to log on as domain admin and reset the password to whatever you want.

Get yourself "Winternals for Windows 2000" software. That will take care of lost admin passwords and much much more. It is a bootable CD and there's even an NT version too. It is a must have.
