I messed about with fdisk, starting from scratch, formatting and creating a new partition size and now find I've lost over 6Gb from the 25Gb drive. I did delete the original 6Gb partition - surely that space is still there?

Tried coupling the drive to XP laptop via FW adapter to use tools but no extra space has been recovered.

Please tell me what to do.

It's a long shot, but it could be the partition table has gone goofy on you. Assuming there's no data on the drive you want to keep, download the MBRWork utility from , boot off a DOS disk, and run it. I think it's option 5 that deletes the MBR and partition table.

After that, repartition the disk with FDISK or Disk Manager and see if you get your full capacity back.

Did you check and make sure your bios is recongnizing the drive as a 25gb drive and not less? It could be possible you need a bios upgrade to see the whole size.

Dave Farquhar: thanks so much; that utility has completely solved the problem and the drive now reports the correct size.
