Hello guys any help please we just had a passport 8600 die on us with the foll error condition:
[04/30/07 12:29:25] The port 7/5 is brought DOWN and then UP administratively d
ue to excessive inconsistency errors on the Octapid 36
[04/30/07 12:29:21] Spanning Tree Topology Change. New Root bridge 00:d0:04:1d:b
7:91 for StgId = 1
[04/30/07 12:29:21] ERROR Task=tMainTask rarCheckOneRecord: Inconsistency at OpI
d=36 RecNum=02813 RecTyp=10 Word=N7 Sys=00003ffe Aru=0305027c 0305027c 0305027c

The switch didnt reboot but lost all connection for about an hour. The log file just shows some ospf re calculation and then lots of the same as above .

The 8600 is poulated as such
blade 2 8648 TX
blade 3 8648 TX
blade 4 8608 sx
blade 5 master 8690
blade 6 backup 8690
blade 7 8608 SX
blade 8 8608 SX
Blade 9 8608 GB

how can we tell which blade/port is the culprit from "octapid 36" ??
Any help much appreciated

I guess the log mentions port 7/5 but by my math the error should be in slot 8.

Octapids support 8 10/100 ports or 1 gig port, so that would make it port 8/8... but I was just looking at an old document that seems to indicate the 8690s have an Octapid too, so that might make it 8/6.
