Hi all,

I recently purchased a HP Desktop with Windows 8 for the office to which the printers are attached and a shipping address database is installed.

To use the printers, I log into this machine from a Vista laptop via my network using my login Windows credentials for the HP and all is fine (printing and database connectivity).

Yet when the laptop is put into standby or restarted, the connectivity is lost despite ticking 'remember password' in the credentials so the printers and database can no longer be accessed.

When I re-navigate or enter the address to the Win 8 PC (\\OFFICE) it asks for the complete Windows credentials again (not even the user name is shown).

Any ideas?

May not be the solution but I had some horrendous problems with UpNP on my router. Once I disabled it, everything worked like a dream but before the network was more like a lottery.

I know it does not answer your question but just by reading your title, why are you still using Vista :) Vista = System unstable

Learning is not enough, you have to apply it...

Check your NIC configuration. Make sure that under Power Management, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is not selected.

Information about power management setting on a network adapter

I suppose the "Reconnect at logon" was checked when any mapped drives were created?

After you turn on User Account Control in Windows Vista, programs may be unable to access some network locations

Mapped Drive Connection to Network Share May Be Lost

Can you make the Connections "Persistent"?
