Dear Sirs
I get several questions concerning LG telephone systems that have suffered power loss or repair of motherboards causing loss of the database (customer data).
All LG telephone systems (and most other brands) are designed with a flash rom for the system software and this part is kept after a power loss.
The customer database containing extension numbers etc. is normally stred in a battery backed-up RAM area.
If the battery has lost power, the system will still operate untill a 110/220VAC power loss happens.
The battery can be replaced, and if a back-up has been taken before the power loss, then there is no problem.
Worst case is if no back-up exist!
Most customers with a service contract, where "back-up" is a part of the contract should not worry, but maybe the customers without contract should make shure that a valid back-up exist?
Now several product ranges exist within LG.
GDK: 16, 20W, FP-II (34), 162 and 186
LDK: 20, 50, 100, 300, 600
To make data changes in an LG telephone system, use the PC program LDK PC ADMIN or GDK PC ADMIN.
From these programs it is possble to make a back-up.
with both types (GDK / LDK) a board must be installed in the system, if you want to take a back-up locally (on-site).
This board has a serial interface and can via a serial cable transfer the back-up from the LG PBX to your PC.
Back-up can also be taken via LAN or ISDN or analog modem, depending on the model of LG PBX.
When a back-up is made it can be corrected (data can be added) or analyzed the means of another PC program called
LDK PC ADMIN PRO (offline) or GDK PC ADMIN PRO (offline).
I have often received back-ups for analysis, and commented (changed) them and returned to originator.
Often with success!
These programs og related manuals can be found here:
