Losing proxy server connection after re-boot

We are running a number of nt4 workstations in our office running IE5.5. On ocasion after a PC reboots the check mark for use a proxy server become un-checked. The problem is very intermittent, and doesn't happen all the time after a pc is re-booted.

My server is running NT4 sp6a, and all my workstations are NT4 workstation, with sp6a

Are you using policies?
(I didn't work with NT since some time,. but there should be in policy also such possibilities).
