Hi,
We have a problem on one of our client sites where they are running Citrix with FR2 installed. Basically within Excel the printers disappear. We have contacted Citrix and they say to re-intall FR2, we have done this but it has not resolved the problem.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue.

We are currently awaiting a response from Citrix, however I feel that I get better feedback from Tek-Tips users!

thanks

I deal mostly with the client side issues, not the server side.... but we've experienced problems printing excel files via a citrix connection. Seems that certain print drivers do not interface very well with citrix, causing the published excel's print preview formatting to malfunction.

In addition, I have been told that part of the problem could be due to incorrect driver mappings and/or incompatible print drivers with the version of Citrix we are running on the server. If the driver names do not match up exactly (case sensitive as well) with those installed on the server, then there will be problems. I believe this has caused on occasion for the printers to "disappear"

At any rate, I have definitely exprerienced funky issues with excel over citrix that I have not experienced with MSWord published on the server, for example.

Would like to hear about some other people's input as well.

There are no issues specific to Excel and Citrix - MetaFrame does not interact directly with applications. Whatever is happening will be down to how Excel interacts with Terminal Services susbsystem and the printer drivers. Again, printer drivers can only be compatible with Windows Terminal Services - the UPD is just an alternative driver that printers can be mapped to.

Try mapping printers to different drivers in the CMC.

I hope this helps

Thankyou for your suggestions, what you say makes good sense. However I have now left the company which was dealing with this issue. Unfortunately I will not be able to provide feedback on the resolution.

i think that may be a resolution in itself - just say ah, fahgeddaboudit and leave!!! <big grin>
