I have a text box that is variable in length on my Crystal report. There is text and datafields in the text box. The crystal report is sent directly to a pdf file for printing, but often the last few characters at the end of the line are cut off.
Example:
" Your name is John Doe and you have $25000.00 in our saf"
You live at 123 street. You have $2,123,123.00 in savin"

The last of the characters are dropped on the pdf form.
Depending on the variable data, the last letter dropped
could change.
I use the can grow fuction on the text box.
Any ideas on how to create the text box so it wraps correctly for a pdf form?

Where is the text object positioned on the report? Is it near the right margin? If so, it is possible that you are losing the last few characters because of that.

Also, the Can Grow option only grows down, not to the right. You may need to just extend the right border of the object to the right more.

Thank you. I have tried increasing the text box in width and sometimes with certain variables it will be ok and the complete paragraph is displayed on the pdf form, but once a new set a variables is sent in (ie different dollar amounts, different name etc..) the letters may again drop off on the right hand side. It won't word wrap for the pdf format correctly.

I'm thinking that I may need to know something about font size with pdf and how Crystal can recognize that the 'report' is going directly to a pdf format and needs to set it's boundries within the pdf restraints for word wrapping.
Any ideas?

This may sound strange, but try moving the right side of the text box to the left slightly. It may be that the text box is a little too wide for the margins of the PDF form, and with certain data the right characters are cut off. If you move the right side (not the whole box, just the right side) of the text box in (to the left) a little, it will force data to the next line if it won't fit withiont the margin.
Jope this helps.
